New Player Developement League Coach

New Player Developement League Coach

The 2012 season and the future in general for Christchurch United youth players moving into senior football receives a boost this year, with the appointment of former Christchurch United Senior Men's Stalwart Jason McDowall as new coach of the Player Development League.

Jason brings proven coaching pedigree and a strong career history in premier league football from his striking days in the Christchurch United Senior Men's Premier League squad. Jason's coaching ethos and playing attitude integrate well with Christchurch United, and we await some outstanding results from him in the season ahead.

2012 is upon us, and we have managed to gain a place in Division 2 for our senior men's divisional football players - meaning this year's teams will be placed in Div 2, Div 3 and Div 4.

All players fromn last year's Div 3A, 3B and Div 4, are welcomed back this year, along with new additions who are moving through from the junior club into senior football. NEW PLAYERS are also very welcome, and with a great spread of ability levels, all players will find their ideal home with the Rams this season.

A training/trial/sign-on day will be held very soon to get all players together and to form squads for the 2012 season. Whether you want to push for a spot in a competitive senior squad or are just keen to play with socially and with friends, then you MUST be there! Date and time to be confirmed in the next few days..

Long-serving Premier League Keeper Announces Retirement

Long-serving Premier League Keeper Announces Retirement

Christchurch United players and supporters fondly farewell one of the club's brightest talents today, following the announcement from Rams custodian Robbie Barraclough of his retirement from the squad.

Barraclough has lead an impressive career in goalkeeping, representing NZ to U23 level, playing in one of Australia's top regional leagues, representing his province Canterbury, and enjoying a long career between the posts for Christchurch United, during both the National League and Mainland Premier League competitions. Robbie will always be held in high regard for his heroics in goal in many important league and cup competitions, and his contribution to the squad's culture will be missed.
